Oral History Project
March 2022- June 2022
Locked in (Our Lockdown Story) - Stories from people with Learning Disabilities in Hammersmith & Fulham.
Through a series of creative workshops This New Ground Collective documented their personal experiences and stories of the past couple of years living through the COVID-19 pandemic. Part documentary/part animation, this oral history film poses vital questions and shares a unique perspective on this unprecedented moment in time.
We know that the pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on the lives and mental health of disabled people. As we return to the new normal, what can we as a society do to ensure positive change in social care for people with Learning Disabilities? How can we support vulnerable members in our society to feel included and involved in decisions that affect them?
This film created during this project was showcased at The Riverside Studios cinema on the 25th June 2022.
This project was supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The Daisy Trust and Local Giving.
As part of this project participants designed limited edition posters that feature quotes from our Oral History film as well as manifesto statements from TNG collective members. These will be on sale on our online shop soon. Watch this space!
