Orlando Richardson
Orlando Richardson is an associate artist at This New Ground and an Autistic artist and illustrator whose practice is deeply rooted in neurodivergent identity and experience. Working across illustration, printmaking, and painting, Orlando’s art explores themes of identity, community, and perception, often through bold linework and structural clarity inspired by the Ligne Claire style.
Since completing an MA in Illustration at the University of Portsmouth in 2023, Orlando has focused on refining both technique and creative voice. His practice values process as much as outcome, with particular interest in relief printmaking, screenprinting, and acrylic painting. His work often centres on portraiture, figure studies, cityscapes, and campaigning art, offering a powerful and personal commentary on the social and cultural experiences of the neurodivergent community.
Orlando has exhibited in a range of solo and group shows, including Autism Acceptance at Sands End Art and Community Centre (2025), the Parallax Art Fair (2024 & 2025), and Celebrating Neurodiversity at the Askew Road Arts Festival. In addition to exhibiting, Orlando publishes zines and collaborates on community-based projects with organisations such as This New Ground and Kite Studios.
Orlando is currently working toward building a sustainable career as a professional artist—developing a distinctive brand, strengthening self-reflection and organisational skills, and deepening collaborative work within neurodivergent communities.
