Exciting News: This New Ground Artists Selected for Lush Cosmetics Mother’s Day 2026 Collection

We’re absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful news from This New Ground (TNG) Art Studio, Hammersmith & Fulham’s inclusive arts project for artists with a learning disability and neurodivergent artists.

Two of our talented artists, Faisal and Kelly, have had their designs chosen to feature in Lush Cosmetics’ Mother’s Day 2026 collection, which will be available in Lush shops globally and online.

  • Kelly’s artwork is a stunning lino print of her cat, André, now transformed into a beautifully produced greeting card, brimming with warmth and everyday joy.

  • Faisal’s piece is a bright, colourful, energetic drawing of nature and animals, adapted into a luxurious silk Knot Wrap. A Knot Wrap is a reusable, beautifully patterned square of fabric, perfect as sustainable gift wrap, a scarf, a bag, or even wall art.

Why This Matters

Despite the richness of talent among people with a learning disability, opportunities remain scarce:

  • Across the UK, 1.5 million people live with a learning disability, yet creative provision for them is limited (Mencap).

  • Only 26.7% of working-age adults with a learning disability are in paid employment, while 86% of those not in work say they would like a job (Mencap Big Learning Disability Survey 2022).

That’s why regular creative engagement and paid creative opportunities are so important. TNG’s weekly studio sessions provide consistency, community, and confidence, but partnerships like this one with Lush take things further by creating genuine employment pathways.

When artists are commissioned and paid for their work, it changes lives: building independence, recognising professional value, and breaking down stereotypes about what people with a learning disability can achieve.

A Proud Moment for the Studio

To have their artwork chosen by a global brand like Lush is a huge achievement that reflects the artists’ creativity and boldness.

As co-founder and studio manager Lucy Groenewoud shares:

“We are over the moon that Faisal and Kelly’s designs will be part of Lush’s Mother’s Day 2026 collection. It’s a brilliant opportunity for their work to be showcased on an international stage, and it shows just how much imagination and heart our artists bring to the world.”

And in Kelly’s own words:

“It means so much to me that my lino print of André has been chosen. I love making art, and to know that people around the world will be buying my design for Mother’s Day makes me feel really proud.”

Looking Ahead: Let’s Do More - Together

This partnership highlights how creativity, inclusion, and commerce can come together to create real impact:

  • Visibility drives value: inclusive art deserves to be seen and appreciated widely.

  • Paid creative work matters: collaborations like this help bridge the employment gap for people with a learning disability.

  • Regular engagement is essential: without ongoing access to creative spaces, too many artists lose the chance to develop their skills, confidence, and voice.

We’re eager to collaborate with more brands, designers, and organisations who want to commission distinctive work while making a meaningful social impact. Together we can create products that are authentic, imaginative, and inclusive, and that give artists with a learning disability the recognition and opportunities they deserve.
